A fire in the night, An ocean burning bright, A fear raged in Fëanor, As he bathed in the light. The ships were burned in scorn Yet by the break of dawn The Doom of Mandor Already had begun Denied his wife’s request, Left her in the west, To wallow in misery, No sons for her caress. Consumed by furious rage, And lusting for the jewels, Fëanor was guided By forces grim and cruel. Go forth with Fëanor, Lord of all Lest you abandon the oath that we have sworn Go forth and leave me here, whilst ablaze I feel no pain My life is penance for the kin that we have slain Fleeing on the seas, Finarfin left in sorrow, Fingolfin was left ashore Abandoned to the snow As storms raged all around, They lost all sight of land, Darkened voices called on them Your doom is at hand Go forth with Fëanor, Lord of all Lest you abandon the oath that we have sworn Go forth and leave me here, whilst ablaze I feel no pain My life is penance for the kin that we have slain Unnumbered tears shall fall, Valinor will be walled. To evil ends you all will fail All for the kinslaying at Aqualonde

The pale cliff climbing skyward Tower of the setting sun Home to glories immortal The stronghold of strength where peace begun Evil in the distance As its sister falls to the dark A shadow, ancient rival That northern land to which many fell The sun has fled from the kingdom The shadow in the east grows large Men will now live in fear Behold the tower of guard

We cannot fight this war, Morgoth is lord of all His darkness conquers all And his blade is sharp and strong We hide underground, Like dwarves eternally bound To delve into the deep No rule without his crown Who is this man? What power does he have? No blood ties to this land Just a ‘gift’ that ensures his end No help from Thingol’s glade The Sindar will bring no aid Just claims that they were betrayed But no kin have been slain Hear now, the words of Fëanor ‘Brood of Morgoth or bright Vala Elda, Maia or Aftercomer Be he fair friend or unclean foe Dread nor danger nor Doom itself Shall save a man or elf Who keepeth a Silmaril Death will deal him a fate most ill’ Do not fear his darkened world The mighty jewels will be ours by the fold Our oath cannot be restrained Morgoth will fall by Noldorin blade

Deep underground, In the realm that never bowed The sorrows of the oath are truly found Blood fills the pools, From the blade of Caranthir cruel Again kin slay kin, for a jewel War, of elven sons Not for love Darkness prevails Compassion fails Three shall survive Three shall die None shall win The triumph is His Lost in the dark, Adrift in the past, A city once divine left in dust Swords were held high, Bright elven flags did fly And those once immortal were doomed to die The sun has set in Doriath, It will not rise again, The elven tide will falter to the hardiness of men Glorious sons of Fëanor, What have we become? Marching ever forward, we all fall one by one War, of elven sons Not for love Darkness prevails Compassion fails Three shall survive Three shall die None shall win The triumph is His

Beyond 08:22
What was once a shining beacon Is lost in the gloomy deeps Tales of wonder and majesty Of kings on the carven stone Our right to rule was hewn from the mountain And ended by the terror from on high Now the sun sets on the mountain Our hallowed halls no longer shine As we wander in the wilderness Our hearts are starved of light Fear the horror deep within, death incarnate A terror, wreathed in blackened flame; fear Durin’s bane Brothers take arms And march! To where daylight dies Avenge all that we have lost And fight! Where daylight dies
